One of the reasons I like to call my Construction business Coach-truction because it keeps me attuned to notice the love in every part of the Construction process.
Last Wednesday was Sports Day in Qatar, and I visited a park that we have constructed few years ago.
During my walk around the park, I saw kids playing joyfully, families relaxing and friends gathering. I felt happily connected with them, playing and soothing.
As I was observing, I somehow sensed that I form a part of them. They did not know it, but I did.
Kids were playing and smiling – even though their smiles were not directed to me, it felt as if their smiles were targeted at me. I smiled back in return.
My smile did not leave me until I left the park. I felt showered with joy. I felt like an unseen man who works invisibly and mysteriously, to contribute and to create a place for the benefit of others.
I would like to keep this feeling anchored in my heart – to expand my love for my Construction Business a little more.
Then I felt that…
When we build schools, we are contributing to creating a learning space for students’ education.
When we build offices, we are contributing to creating interactive spaces for people to work together.
When we build car parks, we are contributing to creating comfortable spaces for people to park their cars.
When we build parks, we are contributing to creating a happy space for kids, family, and friends.
Anything we build is intended for the good of people and for the greater good.
This feeling of service and contribution became apparent as I was visiting our old completed projects.
Visiting these spaces helped me remember the meaning of our construction work, why we are constructing, and for whom.
Construction is not only about equipment, labor, material, resources, time, and financial management, but it is sure about the purpose it serves. This is what I aim the most – to keep my intention aligned with the purpose our work is serving.
When the purpose of my work becomes connected with spaces and people, it does not only help me to Love my Construction business, but it also reminds me once more to make Love be my favorite business.
When I make Love as my occupation, I always search for what I have not yet loved, to include it and to increase my love repertoire.
Like any business, the more you give yourself to it, the more you will get. Similarly with Love, the more I give myself to Love, the more it multiplies, and the more that the Love for my work expands.
What do you love the most about your work?
What could you love more about your work?
