We all experience happiness, and feel joyful sometimes, but have you ever experienced everlasting joy? A joy that is without limit. Honestly, I cannot conceive what limitless joy is like. I could comprehend enormous joy, abundant joy, superior joy, but Joy with no limit at all?
What must that be like? Why is it difficult to conceive?
I believe we have learned to set a mental limit on our Joy, and made out of Joy a function of circumstances and situations. We have also created a belief that it is too dangerous to be Joyful all the time – this could lead to stagnation, unproductivity, or being careless.
It is becoming harder to recognize Joy as our real nature, with all the conditions and limits we place on it. Our minds or our beliefs have been acting like a regulator on our inner thermostats of happiness and Joy.
We can be joyful but the regulator will interfere to not let the temperature of Joy be at its ideal but at its normal according to cultures, norms, and rules.
Most of us walk around with a false sense of Joy. I am happy because it is a beautiful day, the sun is shining, the wind is mild, the flowers are blooming, and I am going to the beach.
I am happy because things are going my way because I have a nice car, a modern house, decent salary. We have made Joy dependent on circumstances, situations, and desires.
If we rest our minds and fall into our hearts, can we feel the Joy, can we just feel it within us not because of something? Simply feel it with no “because”.
We have to get this straight. Joy with any sense of “a because” is a false Joy. It is a mentally fabricated joy that is limited. It is like an ocean wave that is waiting for the current to be weak or strong to appear or disappear.
We get involved in looking for a rosy situation to feel joy; then a new situation appears and we are unhappy again. So we have to get involved in new activities to bring back the joy.
One of the reasons we get involved in external activities to stimulate Joy is that we believe that joy is external to us. The other reason is that we search for Joy as a way to get away from unhappiness or other negative feelings.
The only way to tune again to your unlimited Joy is to realize that Joy has nothing to do with person, place, and people. Joy is unconditional, it is your real nature and the more you understand that Joy is who you are, the more you are getting closer to unlimited Joy.
Can you be unhappy at the moment? Can you be unhappy if you are not thinking of some conditions or situations you do not like?
Learn to live and be in the moment. Learn to feel Joy within and not to search for Joy.
Do not think – just experience and feel Joy now. When you feel unconditional Joy one time you would experience the Joy that is available all the time. You will realize what unlimited Joy is like.
Liberty is to feel this Joy that is independent of any ideas, circumstances, and imaginations and to choose to return to it anytime you want to.
